Three New Members Join Board


Gary Basrai, PharmDGary Basrai, PharmD

Gary has been an independent community pharmacy owner for more than 35 years. He began his career with one store location that he opened shortly after completing his PharmD in 1977 at the University of Pacific. He currently owns and operates 10 locations in California.

Gary has served as a board member for Alameda Alliance for Health (Medicaid HMO), and as President for the Alameda County Pharmacist Association. He continues to work as a consultant pharmacist for 340B covered entities, ambulatory service centers and nursing facilities.

His extensive knowledge and involvement in independent community pharmacy makes Gary a valuable resource and member of the WSPC leadership team. He brings successful and intelligent business solutions to enable independent community pharmacies to thrive.

 

 

Kevin DeMass, RPhKevin DeMass, RPh

Kevin brings to the table a background in hospital, chain, long term care and independent community pharmacy practice. Previously, Kevin served as a Good Neighbor Pharmacy® Western Regional Advisor, and he currently serves on the Good Neighbor Pharmacy® National Advisory Board. As a Regional Leader and New WSPC Board Member, Kevin agrees with its leadership’s vision and unifying attitude toward independent community pharmacy owners, and the coalition’s strong partnership with AmerisourceBergen and the Good Neighbor Pharmacy® program.

In addition, Kevin values the co-op model of pharmacists working for other pharmacists, with strong negotiating/contracting of goods and services, and exclusive member pricing and rebates.

Michael Saad, owner of two community pharmacies in Point Loma, San Diego has been a business owner for the past 35 years, with successful pharmacies in South Africa and the United States. Michael has served as Good Neighbor Pharmacy® Western Regional Advisor and currently serves as a Regional Leader for WSPC, and as a Proctor and Mentor for the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) Skaggs School of Pharmacy.

Michael, an ardent supporter of independent community pharmacies, will serve the board as it strives to keep member pharmacist’s like himself, competitive with, and abreast of, the latest innovations and developments in independent community pharmacy.
